Grain growers of Turkmenistan started harvesting

Grain harvesting campaign has been launched in Turkmenistan. Grain growers of Akhal, Lebap and Mary velayats (regions) have started harvesting. Due to climatic features, farmers of the Balkan and Dashoguz velayats will join the harvest on June 10.

By tradition, the elders blessed the harvest locally. Having mowed down the first wheat ears with sickles with the wishes of a plentiful harvest, the aksakals handed over the symbolic sheaves to the harvesters.

This year, Turkmen grain growers will have to harvest 1,400,000 tons of grain from 690,000 hectares allocated for winter crops. More than 2,000 grain harvesters will be used in this year's harvest. Delivery of wheat to 154 receiving points and elevators will be provided by over 9,800 trucks provided by various ministries and departments. Timely settlement with grain growers for the delivered crop will be carried out through local branches of the State Commercial Bank "Daikhanbank" ("Peasant Bank").
