Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Hassan Rouhani hold one-on-one talks

The President of Turkmenistan and the President of Iran held the one-on-one talks in the Ruhyet Palace in Ashgabat. Thanking the distinguished guest for the accepted invitation to visit Turkmenistan, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that our country considered this top-level meeting as another important step towards widening the fruitful Turkmen-Iranian cooperation that successfully develops in the bilateral and multilateral formats.

IRI President Hassan Rouhani reaffirmed the commitment of his country to the traditionally friendly relations with neighbouring Turkmenistan. Expressing confidence that the current talks in Ashgabat will contribute to the effective implementation of the existing potential of the partnership, the head of the Islamic Republic of Iran addressed the best wishes to the Turkmen people.

The leaders of the two countries discussed a wide range of issues of the Turkmen-Iranian cooperation, specifying the key directions in the context of bilateral agreements.

Calling for the intensification and diversification of mutually beneficial trade and economic ties, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Hassan Rouhani also underlined the importance of the cultural and humanitarian relations as an integral part of the interstate dialogue.

During the meeting, the leaders of the two countries exchanged the views on a number of important issues on the regional and global agenda, confirming the willingness of Turkmenistan and Iran to further cooperate on the international arena.

Turkmenistan and Iran demonstrate the similarity of views on the priority issues of the regional and global agenda that focuses on guaranteeing peace, security and stability, the consolidated counteraction against the threats and challenges of the present time. The two countries stand for enhancing the efficient cooperation on the Caspian Sea, strengthening its status as the sea of peace, friendship and harmony.
