Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chose a site for the construction of a mosque in the new capital of Akhal

A place has been determined for the construction of a mosque in the new capital of Akhal. He was chosen by the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesha Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during the inspection of the city on October 5, the state information agency  TDH reports .

 

 

Chairman of the State Committee for the Construction of the Velayat Center Deryageldi Orazov and his khyakim Shamuhammet Durdiliyev showed the ex-president the draft of the mosque and its layout.

 

 

Berdimuhamedov Sr. ordered that “the architectural appearance of the mosque be in harmony with all the new buildings of the new city, and the surrounding areas be landscaped at the proper level.” He also ordered to consult with the clergy and elders during the construction of the mosque and the location of its mihrab – a niche in the inner wall indicating the direction towards Mecca.

 

 

Then the chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty recalled that he had recently visited Japan and instructed to “use the progressive architectural and construction experience of Japan, the achievements of science, as well as the digital system” when building a new city. It should be noted that the first phase of the construction of the city will be ready for delivery in December.

 

 

Advanced methods are ordered to be used “in general in the construction of objects for various purposes.”

 

In conclusion, the ex-president said that every year on October 6, the Day of Remembrance is celebrated (the day of mourning for the Turkmen people who died in the earthquake of 1948 – HT note), and on October 7, in connection with the choice of the site for the construction of a new mosque, a festive sadaka will be given. He added that he would arrange it with royalties from his books .

 

 

For the first time, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov announced his intention to build a mosque in the new capital of Akhal to “strengthen the moral foundations” of its residents during a regular  inspection  of the city under construction on June 18.

 

A week after that, the ex-president was shown the project of the mosque, which will be located on an area of ​​12.9 hectares. He made a number of comments and made his own corrections to the drafts.

 

On September 2, the Office of the Mufti of Turkmenistan announced an international tender  for the construction of the facility.
