On March 16, the Acting President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held an expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers and the State Security Council dedicated to the results of the presidential elections. This was reported by the state news agency TDH .
Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Turkmenistan Gulmyrat Muradov spoke about the electoral process and stated that observers noted that the elections "were held in an organized manner, on a broad democratic and alternative basis."
The official also recalled that Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Berdimuhamedov won an absolute majority of votes (72.97%) and was recognized as the elected president of Turkmenistan.
Berdymukhammedov Sr. asked if any shortcomings were identified during the election campaign and if there were any comments or suggestions from international observers . Muradov answered both questions in the negative.
The acting president instructed the head of the Central Election Commission on behalf of the Cabinet of Ministers to thank everyone who took part in the preparation and conduct of the elections. In addition, in case of shortcomings in the conduct of elections or lagging behind international experience , provide proposals for their legalization.
Chairman of the Mejlis Gulshat Mammedova also reported on the high-level elections.
