Peaceful protests began in Kazakhstan after the price hike for liquefied gas on January 2 and quickly escalated into pogroms and battles with government forces that lasted several days.
The first days of the Turkmen authorities ignored what was happening in the neighboring country and only on January 6, the country's Foreign Ministry expressed concern, calling on the Kazakh people to resolve the disputes that arose in the constitutional and legal field and in accordance with international norms and rules.
