Heavy rains in the south of Turkmenistan may lead to mudflows

On March 17, heavy rains are expected in the south of Turkmenistan in the foothills of the Kopetdag, in certain areas of the Akhal and Lebap velayats and in Ashgabat, which can lead to floods in mountain rivers and temporary streams and mudflows, reports Meteozhurnal

In Ashgabat, 25-35 mm of precipitation can fall per day – almost a monthly norm. At the same time, 26 mm of precipitation has already fallen in the capital over the past two days.

Uzhydromet also warned about the danger of mudflows in the mountainous regions of Uzbekistan due to heavy rains .

“Citizens living in the foothills and mountainous areas, vacationers and drivers traveling to mountainous areas, we ask you to take precautions,” the message says.
