The Chinese company Huawei has received a contract to expand the fixed telephone network in Turkmenistan. The corresponding resolution was signed by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov at the government meeting.
Mammetkhan Chakiev, Director General of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers, said at the meeting that new digital telephone stations are being built in the regions of the country and Ashgabat, which allows providing telephone services, high-speed Internet and IP-television systems through a single management system.
Chakiev also spoke about the modernization of the fixed telephone network, expansion and provision of it with modern technologies, and also presented a draft of the relevant resolution to the head of state.
After listening to the report, S. Berdimuhamedov stressed the need for optimal use of the potential available in this area and signed the document.
It authorizes the Transport and Communications Agency under the Government of Turkmenistan to conclude with Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. contract for the purchase of equipment, software and licenses, transportation, installation, commissioning and technical support for the expansion of the fixed telephone network in Turkmenistan.
