Sixty more units of Hyundai Motor's hydrogen-powered electric taxis will be supplied to the French capital Paris.
The carmaker said Friday that Hyundai Motor Europe signed a memorandum of understanding with the Parisian electric cab firm STEP(Societe du Taxi Electrique Parisien) on Thursday.
Under the deal, Hyundai will provide 60 of its Tucson ix35 model to the cab firm by the end of 2017.
STEP, a start-up firm, introduced five of the Hyundai hydrogen-powered electric vehicles late last year and has operations running throughout Paris. The firm purchased seven more cabs early this month. With the latest deal, STEP will operate a total of 72 ix35 fuel cell vehicles.
The reason for the additional purchase is known to be due to the vehicle's overall advanced performance and because it only emits water vapor.
