Correspondents of Chronicles of Turkmenistan report that IMO messenger, popular among local residents, was blocked in Turkmenistan this morning.
IMO was one of a very few messengers which is still operating in Turkmenistan. The country's residents used it to keep in touch with family and friends overseas.
Now residents are hurriedly trying to find an alternative and to install all messengers accessible in AppStore and PlayMarket. However, the overwhelming majority of them are not accessible in the country.
Two days before President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov instructedto provide high speed Internet access to the country's educational establishments, which, according to the head of the state, will allow to introduce state-of-the-art technologies in the education system and improve the quality of education.
In late 2017 Turkmenistan received a $273 loan from the Islamic Development Bank for the development of the Internet and the President instructed to design Digital Turkmenistan program to eliminate digital discrepancy for household use.
