President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gave an interview to Deputy Director General of the TASS news agency Mikhail Gusman .
On October 1, short excerpts were published in which Berdymukhamedov talks about his attitude towards Russian President Vladimir Putin .
According to the head of Turkmenistan, the dialogue with the Russian counterpart has been built "extremely confidential, open, friendly, while always very substantive and aimed at the final result."
Putin has a "simple character and a broad soul" and "it is always pleasant to talk with him," TASS quotes Berdymukhamedov.
Also, the Turkmen head said that he met the Russian president in 2002, while still a deputy prime minister, when he accompanied him during one of his visits to Turkmenistan.
“Relations between Turkmenistan and Russia are those of two strategic partners. And this characteristic suggests that the Turkmen-Russian cooperation is comprehensive, long-term, not subject to external conjuncture, "Berdimuhamedov said.
