Turkmenistan has a unique geographical location, being both the Caspian and Central Asian State. Huge hydrocarbon reserves and favorable geography allow Ashgabat to pursue an active energy policy in several strategic directions. Thus, Turkmenistan is the largest supplier of natural gas pipeline to the Chinese energy market. Deliveries are growing, and with the construction of the 4th planned branch D of the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline, China will annually receive 65 billion cubic meters of natural gas.

Turkmenistan is also building the TAPI gas pipeline, which will ensure long-term gas supplies to Pakistan and India through Afghanistan. In addition, Turkmenistan intends to participate in the project of natural gas supplies to the European market. At present, the efforts of Turkey and Azerbaijan are under way to build TANAP and TAP gas pipelines, with the help of which it will be possible to supply Azerbaijani natural gas to European consumers by 2020.

At the same time, according to experts of the gas market, Turkey and Azerbaijan should invite Turkmenistan to the project, which has free gas volumes that can fully load the capacity of the gas pipeline, in order to organize uninterrupted and long-term fuel supplies to Europe.

As you know, Turkmenistan is among the first four countries in the world in terms of natural gas reserves, along with Russia, Iran and Qatar. According to the British company "Gaffney, Cline & Associates" reserves of the giant gas field "Galkynysh" in conjunction with the adjacent fields "Yashlar" and "Garkel" makes total 27.4 trillion cubic meters of natural gas. This indicator takes the Turkmen field to the second place in the world.
