President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov established the Aba Annayev International Horse Breeding Academy. The head of state signed the relevant decree at an expanded government meeting following the results of 2022 in order to preserve the purity of the breed and increase the number of Akhal-Teke horses.

The document establishes the International Academy of Horse Breeding and transfers it to the state association "Turkmen horses". Pygy Bayramdurdyev, the head of the world-famous equestrian group "Galkynysh" ("Revival"), has been appointed rector of the horse breeding academy.

According to archival documents, the elder brother of the great-grandfather of the President of Turkmenistan, Aba Annaev, was a well-known horse breeder at the beginning of the last century.

In Turkmenistan, Akhal-Teke horses are considered the property of the Turkmen people.
