On September 20, 2022, an international conference “International economic cooperation of Turkmenistan: experience and prospects of development ” was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The conference was attended by the heads of diplomatic missions and representative offices of international organizations working in Turkmenistan, faculty, students of higher educational institutions of the country and representatives of the media.
During the conference, the speech of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan V. Hajiyev was heard, in which he noted that this forum aims to give new creative impulses to the development of multifaceted cooperation between Turkmenistan with international economic organizations, financial institutions, and, of course, stimulate the expansion of bilateral partnership.
The Head of the Representative Office of the European Bank for Development and Reconstruction in Turkmenistan F. Turkmenoglu, the Rector of the International University for the Humanities and Development E. Aydogdyev, the Head of the Representative Office of the Asian Development Bank in Turkmenistan A. Andrysyakin, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Turkmenistan A. Blokhin, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Turkmenistan Qian Naicheng, as well as the US Ambassador to Turkmenistan Matthew Steven Klimov.
In the speeches of representatives of the diplomatic corps, it was emphasized that in recent years ample opportunities have been created for further expanding international cooperation in various sectors of the economy. It was emphasized that today Turkmenistan has foreign trade relations with more than 100 countries of the world, close ties have been established with the International Monetary Fund, the World Trade Organization, the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Asian Development Bank, the Islamic Development Bank, etc.
In this context, it was noted that Turkmenistan recently applied for accession to the WTO and acquired the status of an “acceding country”. This is a positive factor in terms of the development of trade and economic relations of the country at the regional and international levels.
