Baku: The international conference titled "Global Challenges in Judicial Administration," marking the 20th anniversary of the Judicial-Legal Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan, commenced in Baku. The proceedings began with the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, followed by a video presentation that showcased the historical development of judicial and legal reforms in the country.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the opening remarks at the conference were delivered by several notable figures, including Fuad Alasgarov, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Head of the Department for Work with Law Enforcement Bodies of the Presidential Administration; Gunduz Karimov, Head of the Department of Legislation and Legal Policy of the Presidential Administration; Ziyafat Asgarov, Deputy Speaker of the Milli Majlis; Fikrat Mammadov, Judge of the Constitutional Court and Former Chairman of the Judicial-Legal Council; and Nino Kadagidze, Chair of Georgia's Supreme Court.
The event also saw the attendance of Colonel-General Vilayat Eyvazov, Minister of Internal Affairs, and Kamran Aliyev, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In his address, Inam Karimov, Chairman of the Judicial-Legal Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, emphasized the importance of ongoing judicial reforms, enhancing judges' professionalism, expanding digital transformation, and maintaining public trust as key priorities.
Fuad Alasgarov highlighted the significance of this year marking the 20th anniversary of the Judicial-Legal Council, which plays a crucial role in the governance functions of Azerbaijan's judiciary. The event concluded with Fikrat Mammadov being awarded the jubilee medal titled "20th Anniversary of the Judicial-Legal Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan (2005-2025)."
