A two-day conference "International transport and transit corridors: interconnection and development" has begun in Ashgabat, dedicated to the development of transport and transit cooperation in the Eurasian space in the post-pandemic period.
The forum, organized by the Transport and Communications Agency under the Government of Turkmenistan jointly with the Turkmen Forum company, is attended by representatives of the Turkmen transport departments, foreign companies operating in the field of international freight and passenger transportation, experts, investors, as well as Turkmen and foreign journalists.
Among the delegates are representatives of Vitol, Meno Logistics, Boeing, Dragon Oil, Fly Dubai, Airbus, Cargo Lux, as well as logistics organizations - the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) and the International Road Transport Union (IRU) .
During the conference, the state of the world market of transport services, the geography and dynamics of cargo flows, the possibilities of increasing the efficiency and competitiveness of all types of transport, increasing the efficiency of the transport and transit potential of Turkmenistan in the context of Eurasian integration were discussed.
The forum also included the third meeting of the working committee of the Agreement on the establishment of an international transport and transit corridor between the governments of Iran, Qatar, Oman, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan and the first working meeting of representatives of the Economic Cooperation Organization on transport corridors.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated the participants of the international transport forum on the start of work. The congratulatory address of the heads of state notes that the creation of favorable conditions for increasing the reliability of international transport corridors turns Turkmenistan into an important hub of transnational routes in continental directions.
The Turkmen leader stressed that the forum would contribute to the harmonious development of transport systems, including automobile, rail, sea and air routes in the structure of transport and transit corridors.
