A two-day international forum in a hybrid format began in Ashgabat to attract foreign investment in the oil and gas industry of Turkmenistan. The conference was organized by the state concerns "Turkmengas", "Turkmenneft" and "Turkmenhimiya", as well as the state corporation "Turkmengeology" in partnership with the economic society "Turkmen Forum" and with the support of the British company Gaffney Cline.

The purpose of the forum is to develop international partnership in the energy sector and attract foreign direct investment in the fuel and energy complex of Turkmenistan.

Representatives of 90 companies and organizations from 32 countries of the world take part in the meeting. These are heads and representatives of Turkmen and foreign oil and gas companies, international financial institutions, organizations and diplomatic missions accredited in Turkmenistan, as well as leading experts in the fuel and energy sector.

The forum participants were acquainted with the situation in the oil and gas sector of the Turkmen economy and further plans for its development. It was noted that Turkmenistan has a powerful resource base, the basis of which is one of the world's largest gas fields "Galkynysh" ("Renaissance"). Its reserves, together with the nearest Yashlar and Garakel deposits, are estimated at 27.4 trillion cubic meters of natural gas. It was also emphasized that the flagship of mutually beneficial transnational cooperation is the main gas pipeline Turkmenistan - Uzbekistan - Kazakhstan - China, put into operation in 2009 and includes three parallel gas pipeline lines.

In the speeches of foreign participants of the conference, special attention was paid to ensuring global energy security, covering the sphere of energy production, their transportation through transit countries and delivery to the final consumer.

Also during the forum, there was a live broadcast from the exhibition pavilion of Turkmenistan at the World Exhibition "EXPO-2020" (Dubai), where the session "The role of Turkmenistan in ensuring regional energy security" was organized.

The participants of the investment forum were congratulated by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The congratulatory message of the head of state notes that this meeting is of great importance for the exchange of experience between Turkmen and foreign specialists, establishing further cooperation and discussing mutually beneficial projects in the oil and gas sector.
