Baku: An individual detained abroad has been extradited to Azerbaijan, the Prosecutor General's Office stated, APA reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the extradition was carried out in line with the Convention on Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family, and Criminal Matters dated October 7, 2002. The request by the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan for the extradition of Azerbaijani citizen Taleh Bejanov Mehdi was approved by the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation.
As part of a criminal case under preliminary investigation at the Khatai District Police Department in Baku, reasonable suspicion has been established that Taleh Bejanov committed a criminal act specified in Article 178.2.4 of the Criminal Code. Consequently, a decision was made to involve him as an accused person, leading to an international search warrant being issued against him.
Taleh Bejanov was detained in Russia and brought to Azerbaijan under the escort of a special convoy from the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice.
