Iran poised to sign agreements with Russia soon – Masoud Pezeshkian

BAKU: Iran is ready to sign the agreements reached with Russia in economic and other spheres, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Kazan, Trend reports. According to him, relations between Iran and Russia are strategic ties. These relations are important for both Iran and Russia. The Iranian president noted that Iran and Russia can constructively cooperate within the BRICS framework and neutralize the sanctions imposed by the US. Pezeshkian expressed gratitude to Russia for Iran's permanent membership in BRICS, membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and other support. In the course of the meeting, Russian President Vladimir Putin also stated that Iran-Russia cooperation is multidimensional. Examples of such cooperation include the construction of railroads in Iran and the construction of Bushehr NPP Units 2 and 3. BRICS, an intergovernmental organization, came into existence in 2006. Russia assume d the BRICS chairmanship on January 1, 2024. Currently, in addition to Russia, Brazil, India, China, and South Africa, the members of the organization are Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia. Currently, the 16th BRICS Summit is taking place in Kazan on October 22-24 under the Russian Chairmanship-themed Strengthening Multilateralism for Just Global Development and Security.
