BAKU: Iran’s ChargĀ© d’Affaires in Azerbaijan, Seyyed Jafar Aghayi Marian, was summoned to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry following remarks against Azerbaijan and its President Ilham Aliyev. These comments were made on December 29, 2024, during an event in Ardabil, Iran, involving Ayatollah Seyyed Hassan Ameli, a representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry formally protested against the statements, which were broadcast on a channel of the Radio and Television Organization of Iran. The Ministry conveyed its dissatisfaction with what it perceives as recent incitement of anti-Azerbaijani sentiments within Iran.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry highlighted that such anti-Azerbaijani propaganda is inconsistent with the spirit of bilateral relations and contradicts the goals that the two countries are striving to achieve. The Ministry stressed that actions fostering hatred and enmity undermine efforts to maintain and deepen both interstate and interpersonal relations.
