Irrigation canals being restored in Uzgen district

Development of Zhaman-Adyr massif is underway and rehabilitation of irrigation networks has begun in Kyzyl-Oktyabr rural area in Uzgen district. Press service of the office of Presidential Envoy to Osh region reported.

The work is carried out within the framework of the project «Organization of land irrigation». At least 100 million soms were allocated for it from the presidential reserve fund.

The funds will be used to restore 4.8 kilometers of the main canal and 12.1 kilometers of internal irrigation canals. The aim of the project is to provide 719 hectares of land with irrigation water.

Recall, the President Sadyr Japarov signed a decree on July 7, allocating 100 million soms from the fund of the head of state to the Water Resources Service for organizing land irrigation in Zhaman-Adyr massif of Kyzyl-Oktyabr rural area in Uzgen district of Osh region.

Zhaman-Adyr massif is known for the fact that after the devastating earthquakes in Uzgen district in 2017, residents began to be resettled there. These are 126 families affected by landslides.

Residential houses for the victims and social facilities have been built on part of the territory. Design and research work has begun to ensure irrigation of Zhaman-Adyr massif on an area of more than 1,400 hectares.
