ISSUES OF FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF MUTUALLY BENEFICIAL COOPERATION WITH THE ASTRAKHAN REGION OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION WERE DISCUSSED

On online negotiations were held between the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R.Meredov and the Governor of the Astrakhan Region of the Russian Federation I.Yu.Babushkin.

During a constructive conversation, the parties discussed the strategic nature of bilateral cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Astrakhan region, which has an important place in partnership with the Russian Federation. It was noted that a great deal of experience has been accumulated in various areas of mutual interest.

At the talks, the parties emphasized the opportunities that their “maritime status” opens up for both sides. In particular, the positive experience of cooperation in the field of shipbuilding was emphasized and interest was expressed in the further development of cooperation in this area. The issues of developing a car ferry service between the International Sea Ports of Turkmenbashi and Olya were also discussed.

The attention of the parties was paid to the opportunities for expanding cooperation in the field of trade. Exchange of views on the organization of the supply of Turkmen-made goods to the Astrakhan region and the promotion of products of Astrakhan producers to the Turkmen market was held.

In addition, the parties noted that cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Astrakhan region is actively being carried out in the field of education.
