A regular online meeting of the government commission on Turkmenistan's accession to the World Trade Organization and a consultative meeting with the UN Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) dedicated to trade facilitation were held.
From the Turkmen side, the meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Vepa Khadzhiev, heads and representatives of a number of ministries and departments of the country. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the WTO Secretariat, UNECE, representatives of the UN structures working in Turkmenistan, and independent experts. The parties noted the active dynamics of the development of partnership between Turkmenistan and the WTO, the ultimate goal of which is the country's entry into the organization as a full member
During the meeting, the Turkmen side stressed that within the framework of the implementation of the two stages of the foreign trade strategy of Turkmenistan, it is planned to solve a number of tasks to complete the preparatory measures for Turkmenistan's entry into the organization in accordance with the relevant road map. It was also noted at the talks that Turkmenistan's accession to the WTO as a full member would contribute to the further development of the country's foreign trade system and logistics infrastructure in the new realities.
