Aktau: The Commission investigating the causes of the AZAL plane crash near Aktau, Kazakhstan, announced that it will not provide comments on unofficial versions circulating online. The Kazakh Ministry of Transport released a statement indicating that the focus remains on official sources as they work towards a preliminary report, APA reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Commission's forthcoming preliminary report will adhere to the legal requirements of Kazakhstan and Annex 13 of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The Ministry confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and that conclusions will be drawn based on verified data.
The tragic incident occurred on December 25 when an AZAL "Embraer" aircraft, en route from Baku to Grozny, crashed near Aktau. Of the 67 passengers and crew aboard, 38 perished while 29 survived. Initial evaluations have suggested that the aircraft may have been shot down while traversing Russian airspace.
