Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan reach number of agreements in higher education

He said that the anniversary meeting of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek intergovernmental commission on cooperation in Kyrgyzstan was held at a high level. 'We found mutual understanding in many areas important for our countries,' he said. Karimov noted that within the framework of the meeting, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan agreed on three important areas in the field of higher education. 'The next meeting of the intergovernmental commission between our countries has just ended. During the meeting, full mutual understanding was found on a number of issues, including in the field of education, science and innovation. In our area the attention was focused on three main issues - documents on higher education, or rather, the parties agreed to reach an agreement on the recognition of documents on higher education. Further, the issue of allocating quotas for Kyrgyz students to study in higher educational institutions of Uzbekistan was discussed. We are considering the allocation of 100 quotas for students from Kyrgyzstan. And finally, the third issue is the holding of the first forum of higher educational institutions of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan in October this year in Osh,' he concluded.
