On May 20, the Ishenim faction of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan considered issues related to the energy sector of the country, where, among other things, it was said about the supply of electricity from Turkmenistan. This was reported by the press service of the Zhogorku Kenesh (parliament) of the republic.
Tilek Aitaliev , Deputy Head of the Ministry of Energy and Industry of Kyrgyzstan , recalled that from August to December last year, 500 kilowatt / hours of electricity were supplied to the country from Turkmenistan.
According to him, in 2022 it is planned to import 1.5 billion kWh.
The leaders of the two countries agreed on the supply of electricity to Kyrgyzstan during the official visit of the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov to Turkmenistan on June 27-28. The contract was signed in early August.
Turkmenistan also exports electricity to Uzbekistan, Iran and Afghanistan.
