Law on fighting human traffic now in force in Turkmenistan

The law On combating human trafficking, the text of which was published in the local media outlets, entered into force in Turkmenistan.

The law defines organizational and legal fundamentals of combating human trafficking, a complex of measures on protection of victims of human trafficking, their rehabilitation and providing them with assistance.

Human trafficking is a global crime and it affects almost all countries in every region of the world. A large part of human trafficking is interregional.

Turkmenistan has adhered to a number of fundamental UN conventions regulating the issues of peace and security, ensuring rights and freedoms of individuals, and steadily follows through on its obligations. Women constitute a significant part of human trafficking victims in Central Asia and Europe, a UN report had said.
