Oguzkhan Palace complex hosts the top-level talks between the President of Turkmenistan and the President of Afghanistan. After the official greeting ceremony of President of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani had concluded, the leaders of the two states held the one-on-one talks.
At present, the relations between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan at the bilateral level as well as within the framework of international organisations are remarkable for the high level of mutual understanding and close cooperation. The Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project opens up new prospects for collaboration. The implementation of the project will contribute to the modernization of the social and economic systems of the states and peoples in the region.
Today, Turkmenistan supplies electric energy to the northern regions of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan on a preferential basis. Upon completion of the construction of additional facilities, the volumes of energy supplies will increase.
The Asian transnational railway - Atamyrat-Ymamnzar-Akina stands as a bright example of the successfully developing cooperation in the transport sphere. The countries have great potential for widening cooperation in agriculture, cattle breeding, food industry and humanitarian sphere. In particular, the Turkmen University of Oil and Gas trains specialists from Afghanistan for the TAPI project.
A number of bilateral documents will be signed on the outcomes of the top-level talks in Ashgabat. It is planned that the Presidents of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan will hold a press-conference.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani will also visit the Ahalteke Horse Breeding Complex.
