The Country Office of the World Health Organization in Turkmenistan, together with the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator, held a lecture for students of the Turkmen State Medical University named after M.Garryyev.
The lecture, organized as part of promoting the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in the country and the region as a whole, is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s membership in the UN. During it, students discussed the key role of health in each of the Sustainable Development Goals. Ensuring healthy lifestyles and promoting well-being for all at all ages are important components of sustainable development. By focusing on better financing health systems, improving sanitation and hygiene, and increasing access to doctors, significant progress can be made in helping to save the lives of millions of people.
The students were also introduced to the European Program of Work 2020-2025, which sets out priorities for the next five years. It presents a vision of how the WHO Regional Office for Europe can help health authorities in Member States to meet these challenges in each country and, collectively, in the Region.
