Baku: At the ongoing trial in the Baku Military Court, Levon Mnatsakanyan addressed inquiries from the state prosecutor regarding the April 2016 battles, APA reports. Mnatsakanyan revealed the loss of 18 combat positions during these clashes.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Mnatsakanyan, who was a lieutenant-general and served as the 'Minister of Defense' for the illegal regime at the time, admitted that the Armenian side lost control of 18 combat positions. The court also reviewed footage from Mnatsakanyan's interview with journalists following the April battles, where he claimed that the situation was stable, and the troops were combat-ready, with borders securely protected.
During the trial, Nasir Bayramov from the Prosecutor General's Office questioned Mnatsakanyan about the identity of the opposing side and their defense strategies. Mnatsakanyan was unable to provide specific answers to these questions.
The trial continues against Armenian nationals facing charges of grave offenses, including war crimes, crimes against humanity, and other serious crimes such as terrorism financing and violent seizure of power.
