The main opposition Democratic Party has rejected the ruling camp's proposal to push ahead with a confirmation hearing for finance minister nominee Yim Jong-yong considering the vacuum in state affairs.
Speaking to reporters Thursday, DP Floor Spokesman Ki Dong-min said that the recommendation of Yim by Kim Byong-joon lacks legal grounds given that Kim's prime minister nomination was virtually withdrawn.
In a phone interview with KBS, the spokesman also said that Yim is among those responsible for the current state of the economy and affirmed that the DP is against his nomination.
Ki also criticized ruling Saenuri Party Floor Leader Chung Jin-suk's remark insisting that the opposition camp does not object to Yim. Ki said that is the complete opposite from the truth.
