Mal©: A government delegation from the Republic of Azerbaijan, led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elnur Mammadov, visited the Republic of Maldives from January 13 to 15, 2024, as reported by Azerbaijan MFA to APA. During the visit, Elnur Mammadov was received by the Vice President of the Maldives, Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef, and engaged in a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Mohamed Saeed. The Maldivian side expressed high appreciation for the Azerbaijani delegation and discussed issues of mutual interest.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the visit included the first political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives. The consultations, led by Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov and Foreign Secretary Fathimath Inaya, focused on expanding bilateral and multilateral political relations. Discussions covered the current state and future prospects of cooperation in economic trade, energy, logistics, transport, tourism, humanitarian issues, and other fields. The cooperation between the two countries in international organizations was positively evaluated, with an emphasis on strengthening mutual support in multilateral formats.
A briefing forum was also organized for the Azerbaijani delegation, which included representatives from various Azerbaijani ministries and companies. The forum, organized by Maldivian state bodies and local companies, provided detailed presentations on investment opportunities in sectors such as tourism, hospitality, and transport. The discussions were reported to be productive, fostering potential future collaborations.
Additionally, tours were organized for the Azerbaijani mission members to various industrial zones in the Maldives, offering insights into the local industrial landscape.
