The positions of Washington and Berlin on Kyiv's NATO membership show signs of softening ahead of the Vilnius Summit on July 11-12, Politico said citing diplomatic sources, APA reports.
It's reported that NATO's Eastern European allies were able to reach a compromise on this point. The bloc's members are anticipated to "go beyond the vague promise" of Ukraine's membership in the Alliance at the summit.
"The U.S. and Germany positions softened a few days before the summit," according to the publication.
