Today, the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, met with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, who arrived in the Turkmen capital to attend the Sixth Summit of the Heads of the Caspian States.
Warmly greeting each other, the interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to discuss in a personal meeting the key aspects of current and future prospective interstate cooperation, as well as topical issues of cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries.
Taking the opportunity, the Iranian leader cordially congratulated Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on his 65th birthday and wished him good health, longevity and prosperity, as well as new successes in his responsible position for the benefit of the Turkmen people. Conveying cordial greetings with best wishes from the Supreme Spiritual Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the distinguished guest reaffirmed Iran's commitment to strengthening cooperation with Turkmenistan, relations with which are based on close kinship and good neighborliness.
Thanking for the congratulations and good wishes, the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty conveyed warm words of greeting to the Supreme Spiritual Leader of friendly Iran, with whose people the Turkmen people from time immemorial associate the common historical and cultural traditions, rooted deep into the millennia. It was emphasized that at present the Turkmen-Iranian partnership, based on the principles of equality, mutual respect and good neighborliness, is becoming more dynamic and progressive.
In continuation of the conversation, the interlocutors stated with satisfaction that at the present stage, taking into account the agreements reached during meetings at various levels, including the recent official visit of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the Islamic Republic of Iran, there are wide opportunities for bringing bilateral relations to a qualitatively new level. Noting that in recent years the Turkmen-Iranian trade and economic relations have intensified, Arkadag and the head of the neighboring state spoke in favor of the need to fully use the existing potential in the electric power industry and the transport sector.
