President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov being on a working visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for the purpose of participation in the 13th Summit of heads of Member States of the Economic Cooperation Organization, met with President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Islamabad.
Noting with satisfaction the ongoing dynamics of the interstate dialogue having the character of a strategic partnership, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized that its foundation is the unbreakable bonds of friendship, historical, cultural and spiritual commonality uniting the peoples of the two countries.
The interlocutors spoke for strengthening of cooperation. Among the priority areas are trade-economic sphere, energy sector, transport and communications, construction industry and other industries. It was emphasized the Turkish business sources' interest in extension of mutually beneficial relations with Turkmenistan. The significant role is assigned to the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Turkish Commission, Joint Business Council, regular business forums and trade fairs. It was noted that humanitarian-cultural sphere is an important component of relations.
The sides exchanged views on a number of points of regional and global agenda, underlining that the similarity or coincidence of positions of Turkmenistan and Republic of Turkey on vital problems of modernity, primarily touched upon secure universal peace, maintenance of security and sustainable development, is a reliable basis for the further promotion of constructive partnership in the world stage.
It was noted that Turkey highly appreciates our country's benevolent neutrality policy and supports international initiatives, put forward by the Turkmen leader, including the proposals, submitted at the current ECO Summit.
In particular, this concerns the cooperation in such an important sector, as transport, where Turkmenistan initiates large-scale international projects for the formation of transit-transport corridors in the North-South and East-West directions. Among them is the project on creation of the transnational corridor Afghanistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey, aimed to be an important component of modern international multimodal transport infrastructure.
As it was emphasized, the implementation of the projects in this sphere, initiated by the Turkmen side, meets the interests of the participating countries and the ECO states members in the whole, offering challenge for promotion of economic partnership in the Eurasian space.
President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan affirmed the commitment of Turkmenistan and Republic of Turkey to the friendship and full-scale mutually beneficial co-operation.
