Construction work resumed on August 30 on a section of the Akina-Andkhoy railway in Afghanistan, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said .
"At present, technical and adjustment work is underway at this site, which is planned to be completed in the near future," the news release says.
Construction of the Kerki-Imamnazar-Akina-Andkhoy railway began on June 6, 2014. The opening ceremony of the 30-kilometer section of the Akina-Andkhoy railway in Afghanistan took place on January 14 this year.
During a telephone conversation the day before, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov told the President of the European Council Charles Michel that the checkpoints between the countries are operating normally. "The bulk of supplies to Afghanistan are oil products, liquefied gas, grain, and everyday commodities," the head of state said, adding that electricity is supplied to Afghanistan, and Turkmen diplomats are in regular contact with the Taliban.
