Recall that the operator MTS-Turkmenistan suspended its activities at the end of September 2017, after Turkmenistan refused to renew the license to use frequencies.
According to IntelliNews, the Turkmen side once again demanded an increase in the percentage of payments from MTS revenue.
According to the contract signed in 2012, the Russian operator undertook , in addition to taxes, to pay 30 percent of the profits to a direct competitor on behalf of Turkmentelecom every month.
In July 2018, MTS appealed to the International Center for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) with a lawsuit against Turkmenistan. The operator estimated its losses at $ 750 million. In response, a representative of the Turkmen side accused MTS of psychological pressure.
In November 2018, it became known that MTS and Turkmenistan decided on arbitrators at the International Arbitration Court.
