Baku: Municipal elections will be held in Azerbaijan today, APA reports. 8,071 members will be elected to 685 municipalities in 118 constituencies. According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the number of candidates whose names were included in the ballot papers in the municipal elections is 16,092. Of these, 8,424 candidates were nominated by 23 political parties, while 8,504 candidates are members of 24 political parties. Additionally, 7,588 independent candidates will compete in the elections. 5,961,987 voters with the right to vote in the municipal elections will be able to cast their votes in 5,846 polling stations. Among these, 5,734 are permanent, and 112 are temporary polling stations. To enhance transparency, web cameras have been installed in 1,000 polling stations. A total of 70,625 observers were accredited by the Central Election Commission and Constituency Election Commissions for the municipal elections. Of these observers, 26,260 are nominated by 24 political parties, ensuring a broad oversight of the electoral process. In accordance with the requirements of the Election Code, today has been designated as a non-working day to facilitate voting in the municipal elections.
