Nephews of President Berdymukhamedov are associated with companies exporting products of state factories

The nephews of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Khadzhimurat and Shamurat Rejepov, are the real owners of the companies through which the export and import of mineral fertilizers and products of the petrochemical industry of Turkmenistan passes, they were able to find out from the documents of the Pandora Archive in OCCRP together with journalists from the Turkmen news and Gundogar publications .

A detailed analysis can be found on the websites of the publications. Here is a brief summary of the investigation.

Khadzhimurat Rejepov secretly runs the Caran company, through which the export of urea fertilizers produced at the Garabogazkarbamid plant passes. The plant was built in 2018 with a loan of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) in the amount of $ 1.16 billion.

Khadzhimurat's younger brother, Shamurat Rejepov, is in the same way connected with the Delanore company, which sells products of the Turkmen chemical industry and petroleum products produced by state-owned enterprises of the oil and gas sector of Turkmenistan.

From the leaked documents of the "Pandora's Archive" it became clear that the Rejepov brothers bought 16 apartments in Dubai in elite districts.

A registry of property owners in Dubai, which was provided to OCCRP by research organization C4ADS, revealed that Khajimurat owns nine apartments in five residential complexes: Sparkle Tower 2, Damac Heights, Sadaf 4, TFG Marina, where the Wyndham Hotel is located, and Matrix Tower.

Shamurat has seven apartments in Sparkle Tower 2, Damac Heights and TFG Marina.

"The leaked files do not indicate the date of purchase, but judging by when the information was entered into the database, the property was acquired after 2018 - around the time when Caran and Delanore were more active," the investigation said.

Taking as a basis the cost of apartments sold in the same complexes, the investigators estimated the total value of the brothers' real estate at $ 5.5 million.
