President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received credentials from the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to Turkmenistan, Najibullah Alikhil.
During the conversation, an exchange of views on the priority areas of bilateral cooperation took place. The interlocutors paid special attention to the implementation of the Turkmen-Afghan agreements reached at the highest level, as well as joint infrastructure projects. In this regard, the importance of building the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline (TAPI), designed to become a bridge of friendship and effective cooperation in the region, was emphasized. Also, the relevance of projects interconnected with TAPI was notedthe construction of power lines and fiber-optic communications along the route TurkmenistanAfghanistanPakistan.
The diplomat expressed gratitude to the head of state for the support provided by Turkmenistan in the socio-economic reconstruction of Afghanistan. The ambassador noted that for all these years, the Turkmen side has supplied its southern neighbor with electricity on favorable terms, regularly sends humanitarian supplies, erects social facilities on the territory of Afghanistan, and Afghan youth are given the opportunity to study at Turkmen universities.
The ambassador emphasized that he would spare no efforts for the further development of the Turkmen-Afghan dialogue.
