New directions of cooperation between Turkmenistan and WHO identified

The Turkmen Foreign Ministry announced the preparation of the List of Activities for 2022 by the government of the country together with the WHO Country Office in Turkmenistan .

The document also pays attention to measures to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, in particular, infection prevention and control, informing the population about the risks, as well as the development and implementation of the National COVID-19 Vaccination Plan.

Turkmenistan still does not recognize the presence of COVID-19 and its varieties on its territory.

The mission of the WHO European Office, which visited our country at the end of November 2021, stressed the need to intensify efforts to detect COVID-19.

Before the visit of the mission in Turkmenistan, senior officer of the WHO Emergency Catherine Smallwood, she said in an interview with the BBC :

- The COVID-19 pandemic has been spreading around the world for almost two years. From a scientific point of view, one can hardly imagine that there is no virus in Turkmenistan.

In December of the past year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan held a briefing for its diplomats on the topic of preventing COVID-19 from entering the country.
