At the Cabinet session held on 12 October President Gurbanguly Berdymukahmmedov criticized the performance of Turkmenistan's State Marine and Inland Water Transportation agency, which fails to execute the cargo shipping plan.
The state information agency TDH reports that according to the head of the state a new international marine port, which was commissioned in the city of Turkmenbashi, is not operating at full capacity. Deputy Prime Minister Mammetkhan Chakyev was charged with the task of remedying the situation.
Let us recall that on 11 August the President inspected Turkmenbashi international sea port, which was opened on 2 May. According to the footage of Turkmenistan's state television, the port was absolutely empty with no works in progress. On 14 September Deputy Prime Minister Chakyev briefed the President on the performance of the port where three vessels had been repaired at its shipbuilding facility.
