Zaur Mikayilov, chairman of the State Agency for Water Resources of Azerbaijan, wrote in the official newspaper “Respublika” about the progress in the project of reconstruction of drinking water supply and sewerage systems of the city of Lachyn, which since September 2022 returned to the control of Azerbaijan after 30 years of occupation by the Armenian armed forces in accord with the Tripartite Statement of November 9, 2020.
"Taking into account the prospective development, the project is designed for the use of drinking water and sewerage services for 18,000 people. In order to provide the city with sustainable and high-quality drinking water, 6 subartesian wells, a drainage reservoir and a pumping station are being restored in the area of the village of Sus. Also, treatment facilities are being built in the well area," the publication notes.
Construction and restoration of a 10-kilometer high-pressure main water pipeline, a pumping station, and 9 reservoirs with a total capacity of 4,000 cubic meters continue from the water source. Most of the planned 58 kilometers of drinking water networks and 49 km of sewer networks have already been built.
It is expected that the city of Lachyn will receive the first over 100 families in the third quarter of this year.
