The volume of cargo transported by sea transport in Azerbaijan in January-September 2024 amounted to 6,358 thousand tons and decreased by 8.6% in comparison with the corresponding period of the previous year, the State Statistics Committee told APA-Economics. 47.6% of cargoes consisted of oil cargoes. It is reported that during the reporting period, sea ports carried out loading and unloading operations in the amount of 1,0431.5 thousand tons and 8 363.3 thousand tons or 80.2% of cargoes were transit cargoes. As of October 1, 2024, the amount of cargo remaining in the ports was 452.5 thousand tons. "During the period, the number of passengers transported by this type of transport increased by 19.6% compared to the corresponding period of 2023 and reached 21.4 thousand people," the information states.
