The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan SOCAR will open its representative office in Turkmenistan. This was announced on October 27 in an interview with Radio “Voice of the CIS” by the deputy head of the department for science and technology of the head office of the company Emin Alekperov .
The delegation of the company arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the International Conference “Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan-2022”.
Alekperov said that SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf held a meeting with the Turkmen side, where they discussed the topic of transporting natural resources, as well as the issue of opening a company office in Turkmenistan.
“Currently, Azerbaijan mainly produces oil and gas in its offshore area of the Caspian Sea, which is 80% of the total. Drilling platforms are interconnected by overpasses, as on the Turkmen side . There is an established network of pipelines for the transit of hydrocarbons from the sea to land. With a business approach , they can be combined , which does not take large material resources. In the future, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan may join the pipeline,” a company representative said.
SOCAR is engaged in exploration, development, production, transportation and processing of oil and gas, Emin Alekperov recalled. The company has joint ventures in a number of countries, representative offices in more than 10 countries, factories in Turkey and a research and design institute with branches in Uzbekistan.
