On December 11, on the eve of the celebration of the Day of Neutrality, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took part in the conference "Politics of Peace and Trust - the Basis of International Security, Stability and Development", the TDH state news agency reported. .
The event was attended by representatives of international organizations, whom the President received earlier personally, the leaders of the Mejlis and Khalk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh, members of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads of ministries and departments of the country, domestic and foreign diplomats.
In his speech, the head of state noted that "the military-strategic confrontation is escalating in the world , the spectrum of forms of confrontation is expanding and strengthening."
Note that the members of the Turkic Council, in which, despite their neutrality a month ago, became Turkmenistan , regularly discuss the return of disputed territories, and the Turkish President awarded the head of Azerbaijan with the "Supreme Order of the Turkic World" for the military victory over Armenia.
Two weeks ago, the heads of the ECO countries, who arrived in Ashgabat, also devoted part of their speeches to the victory of Azerbaijan and the return of other disputed territories.
“Many questions arise in the field of combating inequality and poverty, protecting the environment, providing assistance to refugees and migrants,” Berdymukhamedov said. “In such conditions, only restoration of trust, adherence to generally recognized international legal norms will help to correct the situation .
According to the President, proceeding from these tasks, Turkmenistan came up with an initiative to declare an International Year of Peace and Confidence.
“Trust, mutual understanding are the most important prerequisites for the restoration of economic, trade, transport, investment ties against the background of overcoming the current crisis,” the head of state noted.
After the president, representatives of international organizations spoke, congratulating him on the holiday and talking about neutrality. The TDH noted that the head of the OSCE Center in Ashgabat, John McGregor, did it in the Turkmen language.
As a result of the Forum, 26 documents were signed. Among them:
• New edition of the Grant Agreement Program of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry with the UNDP office in Turkmenistan on the withdrawal of funding for the National Tuberculosis Program of Turkmenistan from the support of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria by 2024;
• Work plan for 2022 between the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry and UNFPA for the implementation of the project “Improving universal access to high-quality age-related health services”;
• Work plan for 2022 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection with the UNDP office in Turkmenistan for the implementation of the project "Sustainable Cities in Turkmenistan: Integrated Development of Green Cities in Ashgabat and Avaz";
• Work plan for 2022 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection with the UNDP office in Turkmenistan for the implementation of the Program to ensure the sustainability of socio-economic indicators related to the impact of climate on the population employed in agriculture in the dry regions of Turkmenistan.
