The greatest gender imbalance is observed in the public administration system of Kyrgyzstan. It was announced at the round table on gender development in the Kyrgyz Republic.
Representatives of the National Statistical Committee presented data on the representation of women at all levels of decision-making in the country. The survey states that only 37.7 percent of women hold political positions and positions in local government bodies, and men — 62.3 percent. The proportion of women in political and municipal positions is only 3.9 percent, men — 96.1 percent.
Representation of women in Parliament reaches 20.5 percent instead of the prescribed 30 percent.
