OSCE teaches Turkmen border guards to identify criminals by facial expressions

On July 12-14, an OSCE-organized regional seminar on risk management based on the analysis of non-verbal communication, taking into account emotional expressions of the face and body was held , was held, the organization's Center in Ashgabat reports .

About 80 employees of the border and security agencies of the five countries of Central Asia took part in the seminar online and in person.

“In the digital age, the use of modern technologies plays an important role in preventing and countering terrorism. Experts stressed that at a busy border crossing point with heavy movement of people and goods across the border, criminals often try to hide their malicious intent and cross the border undetected by controlling their emotions, facial expressions and body language,” writes the OSCE.

The seminar was organized within the framework of the extrabudgetary multi-donor project of the Center "Strengthening the capacity of the State Border Service of Turkmenistan" with the financial support of the Government of Japan .
