The plan for the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline has already been developed and can be implemented within 3-4 years. This was stated by the Minister of oil of Pakistan Musadik Malik, according to The Nation following the results of the Opinion Leaders Forum on the energy vision of Pakistan.
According to Malik, supplies through the TAPI gas pipeline will allow Pakistan to receive more than 35 million cubic meters of gas per day.
There are no problems with the delivery of gas from Turkmenistan, the minister noted, adding that there is now a large gap between energy demand and supply in Pakistan, and local gas reserves are rapidly depleted.
The forum also discussed the need to diversify oil imports to Pakistan.
