In Ashgabat, active construction of parking lots is being carried out with the aim to optimize traffic and expand the urban parking space. Deputy Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers D. Amangeldiev informed about it at a government meeting.

A total of 615 car parks, designed for 88,139 cars, were put into operation in Ashgabat. Of these, 34 are multi-level, 249 are open and 332 are in the lower tiers of residential buildings.

Intercepting parking lots were built for traffic relief of the motor transport system of the capital. So, a parking lot for 759 seats was built in the northern part of the city on the highway Ashgabat-Dashoguz, parking lot for 1258 seats on the highway Ashgabat-Mary, parking for 14400 seats on the west side of the capital and for 1,400 seats in the etrap Ak Bugday Akhal Velayat.

In addition, 42 parking lots for 21 294 cars have been built on the territory of the capital etraps of Berkararlyk, Kopetdag, Bagtyyarlyk and Archabil. Nonresident drivers can get to the right place by public transport, leaving their cars at the entrance to Ashgabat.

A consistent work is being done so that all car owners in the capital are provided with parking spaces so that cars do not accumulate in the courtyards of residential areas and on the roadsides, hampering urban transport traffic and adversely affecting the environment.
