BAKU: Azerbaijan is set to continue its successful course of reforms and stability following the parliamentary elections, said Carlos Uriarte Sánchez, Secretary General of Paneuropa Spain and member of the Presidency of the International Paneuropean Union, Professor of Law at Rey Juan Carlos University in Spain, Trend reports. ‘The early parliamentary elections for the Parliament of the Republic of Azerbaijan, held on September 1, proceeded without incidents. In this election, the ruling New Azerbaijan Party secured a majority by winning 68 of the 125 seats,’ he said. He also pointed out that these elections marked a milestone as the first held in the Karabakh region since it was restored to Azerbaijani control following the end of Armenian occupation. ‘Azerbaijan’s traditional non-alignment policy, as well as its membership in the OSCE, the Council of Europe, and GUAM, demonstrates its commitment to democracy, reforms, and its desire to be part of a world based on international law,’ the professor noted. P rofessor Sánchez added that the New Azerbaijan Party’s win of the majority of parliamentary seats will ensure the country’s course toward prosperous reforms and stability. ‘Therefore, it is likely that the government will continue its gradual approach to reforms, prioritizing stability and continuity, which has brought great success to the country both nationally and internationally, where Azerbaijan is a model of prosperity in the region,’ he concluded.
